My first mail delivery of 2015 following a week-long closure of the local post office yielded three Postcrossing cards including this wonderful mapcard.  I love antique maps and this one in particular is quite special as it’s one of Asia, my home continent for nearly ten years now.  If I look closely on the isthmus in the southern part of Siam, I can just make out the little speck that represents my home island of Phuket.  If the lettering were larger, it would probably say “Jungceylon” which is the old name for this place as well as the name of our largest shopping mall.

The card was sent from Lotte, a town located on the north side of the Teutoburg Forest in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.  It’s close to the border of Lower Saxony.  Postcrossing user Flocke 2010 wrote that she had two weeks off for the New Year’s holiday and planned to delve into her to-be-read pile of books.
