Luang Prabang, Laos – On the Mekong

Postcards-Laos 016

Postcards-Laos 012

Even though our visit coincided at the height of the Lao New Year celebrations, Luang Prabang had a decidedly laid-back atmosphere.  The streets, cafes, and some of the temples were a bit crowded at times but never overbearingly so.  I can imagine what the town is like during off-peak times of the year!  Life was at it’s most tranquil along the banks of the Mekong (never a long walk away) and I enjoyed just sitting and watching the boats glide along on the water.  Another cherished memory of this trip was crossing to the other side of the river and exploring the villages and temples sitting opposite Luang Prabang.
