One of my favorite places during our brief visit in Singapore was Clarke Quay, an historic area of interesting shops and restaurants alongside the Singapore River. We arrived via a bumboat cruise from close to the famous Merlion fountain, the symbol of Singapore. The area was apparently fairly rundown and forgotten prior to a major conservation effort in the late 1970’s and 1980’s. Nowadays, it is definitely a place to see and to be seen. I hope I can return someday soon.
